Art Hierl, Owner, founded A.H. Hierl Associates in 1992 after working in companies ranging from General Dynamics (aerospace) to Northeast Utilities (electric and gas utility) for 20 years. Art bought his first home computer in 1985, a Texas Instruments model 99 a, and was so intrigued by the potential of personal computers that he subsequently decided to develop software fulltime. He won first place among about 300 developers in a technical knowledge contest at a users’ conference.  While his children consider this a nerdy programming award, Art believes it helps inspire confidence in his work. He holds an electrical engineering degree, along with advanced degrees in business and economics, including a Ph. D. in Finance. When not with clients or in front of his numerous computers, Art is playing tennis or jogging with one of his associates, Toby, the black lab.

Bruce Lomasky, a senior associate, is our fastest associate having won three timed international database development ‘shootout’ contests.  Bruce has done it all, from working in the IT department of a large insurance company, to running his own software development company, to being an evangelist for a company that sells software tools to working for a startup portal software company. He has developed custom software for companies in a wide range of industries.  Bruce has a great knack for asking the right questions when defining business rules, and excels at system and database design. Personally, I take his almost walking on water claim with a grain of salt.  Bruce is a gadget aficionado and reduces stress by bicycling, including making the trip coast to coast.

Steve Lease is our newest Associate. Most recently, Steve was the Controller at a primary metals manufacturer in central Connecticut.  In that position, he was responsible for both the financial and Information Technology functions of the company. Steve brings a wealth of experience in helping users articulate their needs and translating these needs into enhanced business processes and software solutions.  His success allowed the company to dramatically improve customer satisfaction by reducing lead times and improving response times to customer inquiries.  He was also instrumental in devising enhanced production tracking and planning software tools that have improved productivity and facilitated control of inventory.  Steve relaxes by taking his dogs Bentley and Bridgette for walks and pampering a vintage sports car.
